Every March, we celebrate Women's History Month (WHM) in honor of women's contributions to American society. WHM began as International Women's Day on March 8, which has been observed in some form since 1911 and was officially commemorated by the United Nations in 1975.
The 2022 Women’s History theme, “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” “is both a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.” Stated by the National Women’s History Alliance.
This week, in honor of Women's History Month, we're highlighting a few of our female attorneys with quotes about being a woman in law in 2022.
"My hopes for future female attorneys: To feel supported in both their career and in their life choices. I hope that the practice of law, and the legal profession, will continue to evolve in a way that allows women to carve out their own unique paths in careers that are fulfilling and meaningful." - Alison Chase
"As a mother myself, I want little girls from all backgrounds to see law as a profession that welcomes their wisdom, passion, and creativity. We all play a role in holding the door open for future generations of female attorneys." - Gretchen Freeman Cappio
"I am encouraged by the progress we are making in the legal field on gender parity. While the gender breakdown in the practice is too frequently not representative of society, the leadership roles being earned by many talented female attorneys at KRs and nationwide inspire me. I hope we will continue to work together as a legal profession to ensure female attorneys are recognized and rewarded." - Felicia Craick
