As a partner in Keller Rohrback’s nationally recognized Complex Litigation Group, Ryan McDevitt ensures fairness in the marketplace by holding corporations accountable to their customers, communities, and competitors.

In recent years, Ryan has represented consumers and local governments in major fraud, defect, and nuisance litigation against nearly every major automaker. This work includes service on plaintiffs' leadership committees in multidistrict litigation involving a wave of thefts of Hyundai and Kia vehicles that are not equipped with industry-standard antitheft devices; a significant role achieving and administering landmark settlements on behalf of drivers of Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Ram, and Jeep vehicles in the Volkswagen “Clean Diesel" and Fiat Chrysler “EcoDiesel" multidistrict matters; service on the court-appointed Executive Committee in litigation concerning defective transmissions in Nissan and Infiniti vehicles; work as co-lead counsel in litigation concerning a serious safety defect in Chevrolet Bolt EV batteries; and litigating matters involving alleged defects in airbag control units in 12.3 million vehicles from six major automakers, transmissions in numerous Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles, and engines in several Hyundai and Kia models.

In addition to his work in the automotive industry, Ryan has litigated consumer protection and antitrust claims, financial and securities fraud, intellectual property infringement, and federal labor law violations in federal and state courts nationwide. For example, he has represented dentists in sprawling antitrust litigation against Delta Dental; the Federal Home Loan Banks of Boston, Chicago, and Indianapolis in litigation against dozens of issuers, underwriters, and sponsors of private label mortgage-backed securities worth $13 billion; classes of mortgage borrowers treated unfairly by mortgage servicers and banks; and the Navajo Nation in protecting its rights to the NAVAJO trademark.

Ryan has been recognized by Law360 as a "Rising Star" for 2023 and as an "MVP" for 2024.
